Buddhism and its arts have existed for more than 2500 years, weaving their way with monks and pilgrims through broad areas of the Asian continent and across seas, mingling with the arts and styles of indigenous cultures. Meher McArthur is Curator of East Asian Art at the Pacific Asia Museum, Pasadena, where she has curated several large exhibitions and installations including Constructing the Cosmos in the Religious Arts of Asia. She has a BA in Japanese Studies from Cambridge University and an MA in Asian Art from London University's School of Oriental and African Studies, with a major in Japanese Art. Her other publications include Japanese Buddhist and Shinto Prints from the Collection of Manly P. Hall (1997) and God and Goblins: Japanese Folk Paintings from Otsu (1999).
