Books about what goes into the production of a newspaper are the subject of Chapter 5, followed by chapters on Newspapers and Society.' Newspapers and the Law, ' and Newspapers and Technology.' The final chapter discusses references and periodicals about newspapers--bibliographies, newspaper checklists and indexes, annuals and directories, and periodicals. Two appendices: Selected Chronology of Newspapers and Major Research Collections. The essays are cogently written and highly informative.
