Reseña del editor:
This is a celebration of the leisurely exploration of over 40 waterside walks through some of Britain's most memorable landscapes - from tranquil Suffolk, along the River Stour and the verdant depths of the Wye Valley to the industrial archaeology of the canals of Manchester and the grandeur of Scotland's Crinan Canal. The book is divided into six regional sections, each containing a mix of routes including circular walks, longer point-to-point walks taking several days to cover, and shorter walks suitable for a day's ramble. Route descriptions are accompanied by information on the history of the area and the places visited, along with details of Ordnance Survey maps required, parking facilities, public transport links and places to stay.
Contraportada:

The rivers and canals of Britain offer the keen walker numerous opportunities for the leisurely exploration of ever-changing vistas. In celebration of this popular pastime, 'Walking Britain's Rivers and Canals' provides a classic collection of 30 waterside walks through countryside awash with colour and cities steeped in tradition.

From Constable's tranquil Stour Valley landscape in East Anglia to the industrial archaeology of the canals of Manchester, and from the verdant depths of the Wye Valley in the Welsh Borders to the mountainous grandeur of the Crinan Canal in Scotland – these walks and many more give instant access to the little-known delights of our national heritage.

The book is divided into six regional sections: South-West England, The Midlands and East Anglia, Northern England, Wales and Scotland. Each contains a balanced variety of routes, some linear, others circular, some long walks taking several days to cover, others suitable for a day's gentle ramble. Descriptions of each walk are supplemented by information on the history of the area, places to visit and local accommodation, with colour route maps to ensure that planning your day out is both easy and safe.

Written by a team of expert walking writers and featuring superb colour photography throughout, this book will inspire both the armchair explorer and serious walker to sample joys of the British countryside and its cities via its rivers and canals.
